Privacy Policy
How AnglerScout handles account, catch, location and community data. Effective 18 October 2026.
1. Scope
This policy applies to anglerscout.com, app.anglerscout.com and associated AnglerScout services. It covers the founding web version and will be updated before native app-store release if store-specific processing is added.
2. Information we collect
- Account data: name, email address, country, preferred language, measurement system and authentication records.
- Fishing records: species, quantity, length, weight, bait, tackle, method, session notes, photos, time, conditions and kept/released status.
- Location data: named spots and coordinates only when you enter them or permit the device to capture them.
- Community content: posts, replies, reactions, photos, invitations, memberships, reports and moderation records.
- Technical data: device/browser information, security logs, synchronization status, offline queue information and crash or bug details.
- Membership data: subscription status and transaction references. Payment-card details should be handled by the selected payment provider rather than stored directly by AnglerScout.
3. How we use information
We use data to provide accounts, synchronize devices, preserve catch records, display maps and conditions, run communities and rankings, respond to support requests, prevent abuse, maintain security and improve the service.
4. Catch intelligence and aggregated learning
With appropriate notice and consent, successful catches and blank sessions may contribute to anonymised or aggregated patterns by species, season, tide, weather and time. These insights are guidance only. Private coordinates must not be exposed to other anglers through an aggregate result.
5. Location privacy choices
- Exact: the precise coordinates are visible to the audience you select.
- Approximate: a broader area is shown instead of the exact position.
- Hidden: the catch may be shared without a map position.
Personal-log storage does not automatically publish a catch. Users remain responsible for reviewing the selected audience before posting.
6. When information is shared
Information may be shared with the community, country or worldwide audience chosen by the user; with service providers needed for hosting, authentication, maps, conditions, email, payments and security; when required by law; or during a legitimate business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards. We do not sell exact fishing coordinates.
7. Offline storage and synchronization
Some data may be stored on the device so logging works without reception. When connectivity returns, queued changes may synchronize with the account. Anyone with access to an unlocked device may be able to see locally stored information.
8. Retention and deletion
Data is kept while needed to provide the account, meet legal or security obligations, resolve disputes and maintain legitimate backups. Account and data deletion controls will be provided in the production account area; support can also be contacted for assistance.
9. Your choices and rights
Depending on location, users may request access, correction, export, restriction, objection or deletion. Users can also change post audiences, coordinate visibility, community participation, language and measurement preferences.
10. Security
AnglerScout uses reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, but no online or offline system is risk-free. Use a unique password and do not share private invitation links publicly.
11. Children
AnglerScout is not intended for children under 16 without a parent or guardian’s involvement. Age rules may be adjusted to satisfy local law and app-store requirements.
12. International use
AnglerScout is worldwide. Information may be processed in countries other than the user’s own, with contractual or other safeguards applied where required.
13. Changes and contact
Material changes will be dated and communicated through the website or app. Questions and privacy requests can be sent to [email protected].
